Membership Application

  • Application Process and Terms

    Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of the Massachusetts Forum of Estate Planning Attorneys, Inc. (the “MA Forum”). For our organization, membership is by approval only, and as such, all membership applications are considered to be in “pending status” while awaiting final review and approval by the Membership Committee.

    During your pending status, you are welcome to attend meetings, at the member rate. You will not be able to serve on any committees or as an office or as a director of the MA Forum unless a member.

    By submitting this application, you state that all information provided with this application is true and accurate and that you are in compliance with the MA Forum Code of Ethics in section V below.

    You recognize and agree that any information obtained by the Membership Committee and/or Board of Directors will be used to determine your status as a member of MA Forum.

    Upon Approval of your application you must pay the then Current Annual Membership Fee. Payment upon membership approval is made on line here:

    You will receive notice from the Membership Committee of the process for approval as a member and will become a member upon Approval of your Application and payment of the Current Annual Membership Fee.

    MA Forum Code of Ethics

    A member must comply with the MA Forum Code of Ethics to continue as a member. Applicants must be in compliance with the Code of Ethics at the time of application and upon approval of their Application.

    In applying for membership, I aver and state:

    1. I have lived up to the ethical standards of my profession and will continue to do so as a member of the MA Forum.
    2. I have preserved the dignity of the legal profession in my practice and will continue to do so as a member of the MA Forum.
    3. I have respect for the legal profession and have demonstrated respect for the profession and will continue to do so as a member of the MA Forum.
    4. I have maintained high standards in my profession and as a member of the MA Forum will continue to do so and will encourage other members to do the same.
    5. I have fostered good will, collaboration, collegiality, and trustworthiness within my profession and when dealing with allied professions, and I will continue this conduct as a member of the MA Forum and encourage other members to do the same.
    6. As a member I will display a positive and supportive attitude among the members.
    7. As a member I will be transparent and foster transparency among the members when requesting, offering, sharing, and/or borrowing/using members’ proprietary information or work product. I understand that members may choose to share certain work product within the group. Members who share work product understand that the product shared may be used and redistributed by others, verbatim unless the Member specifies otherwise on or within the materials at the time of dissemination. Members may specify the source they obtained the material from (if applicable), whether the work product may be used as a general guide, whether it may be reproduced verbatim, and whether use requires permission and/or attribution to the Member. Members who choose to share work product have spent countless hours and capital in the production of their proprietary work and no work shall be redistributed outside of the MA Forum without prior consent of the Member. The MA Forum and Directors are not responsible to maintain records of work product shared and restrictions thereon.
    8. As a member, I understand that any violation of the MA Forum Code of Ethics may result in termination of membership by the Membership Committee and/or Board of Directors without refund of dues or meeting admission fees.
